- Activity Description
BIM, or an acronym for Building Information Modeling, is a system or technology that includes some important information in the design, construction, and maintenance processes that is integrated into 3D modeling. BIM itself has begun to be widely used in strategic projects in Indonesia. However, the use of BIM is felt to be less than optimal with increasingly massive developments. Therefore, we have organized a development forum for students, namely the International BIM Innovation Contest, commonly called IBIC, which is an international-level competition activity aimed at all active students from public and private universities. In the theme presented this year, IBIC carries the theme “Sustainable and Optimation Building Construction for Better Quality and Durability with BIM”.
- Activity Purpose
The purpose of holding this activity is to provide insight into BIM with the aim of increasing BIM competition for academics throughout Indonesia. In addition, this competition also aims to increase the use of BIM technology and its effectiveness in construction development in Indonesia. IBIC also strives to help Indonesian construction become one of the best in the world by using the latest technology and increasing the effectiveness and accuracy of building structure calculations in Indonesia using BIM technology.
- Activity Implementation Time
This activity was held from February 1 to May 3, 2023, starting with open registration for all BIM participants and ending with a final presentation by IBIC finalists.
- Forms of activity
This activity itself begins with the elimination stage, which must be followed by every team that has registered for the competition. In this activity, participants are required to make a building structure analysis planning proposal at several building locations in Indonesia that have been provided with conditions adjusted based on building plans in the field. Then the second is the final stage, where at this stage the team that has passed the preliminary stage is required to take part in this stage. The activity is in the form of presenting a structural analysis planning proposal and making a BIM animation video. Technical meeting activities are carried out online, and final presentation activities are carried out offline. In his own judgment, we are working with PT. HUTAMA KARYA to conduct competition assessment and judging in the final stage.
- Activity Benefits
The benefit of this activity is to provide increased insight into BIM, which can increase the use of the technology in the future. This activity can also provide insight into good and correct structural analysis planning using BIM technology.
