sipilsandbox.undip.ac.id – Universitas Diponegoro civil engineering students successfully won the ECIVE 2023 Precise Quality Concrete Compression Strength Competition at the Malang State Institute of Technology. The team known as Circle Daksha consists of students from the 2021 class; Salsalbila Yowinda Putri (Leader); Zulfa Izza Nugroho; Hilmy Ammar Albaihaqi. The three of them won the 1st Runner-Up Prize under the guidance of Mr. Banu Ardi Hidayat, S.T., M.T.
The team used carbide and fly ash waste as an alternative to cement because they contain chemical compounds that can increase the strength of concrete. Both of them produce a pozzolan reaction which is almost the same as the pozzolan reaction of cement products. In the process of making the concrete, the team conducted various trials and errors at the Technology and Materials Laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department to ensure that the concrete was really strong.
With this innovation, the team hopes that the idea will be useful for the world of construction and will be able to support Indonesia in Sustainable Development.
